The National Marine Aquarium located in Plymouth is home to some of the most spectacular marine life the ocean has to offer. The National Aquarium aims to inspire everyone to enjoy, learn and care about our Oceans through amazing, memorable experiences. The National Aquarium is a bank of information and as the UK's first marine life aquarium that deals solely with the issues of conservation, education and research, there is a whole new adventure to be uncovered with many species of life on show!

With so many undiscovered creatures to explore, and with countless displays offering some of the oceans most beautiful of creatures, there really is so much to do and see for all the family at the National Aquarium. Catering for children of all ages, the National Aquarium is a learning experience that is fun and enjoyable and with everything from sharks to molluscs on display, you are kept entertained throughout.
Marvel at these glorious creatures as you move from section to section taking in the sites as you pass. Face your fears as you come face to face with sharks, observe the tropical fish and how they inhabit their tank and see how starfish blend into their surroundings!
The new Mediterranean exhibit features the deepest tank in Europe. A dizzying 10.5 metres deep, the tank holds 2.5 million litres of warm seawater, including the adjoining life support systems, this volume increases to 3.3 million litres. The tank is especially designed to house a wide range of creatures from circling sharks to stealthy moray eels.
The cinema screen-sized window of the Atlantic Reef tank is a real opening into the oceans. Carefully modelled on the Eddystone Reef just a few miles off Plymouth, each crevice, every gully has been crafted to mimic the natural hiding places of animals that inhabit this realistic environment. In the same way as a natural community, the animal life lives in layers, changing with depth from surface to seabed. Pelagic shoaling fish like Scad Mackerel are often included at the surface. Further down, silvery Sea Bass move to and fro, secure in numbers.
