
Kent's Cavern
Kent's Cavern is one of the most child friendly caves in England, with countless activites for the kids to be doing. Located in Torquay, Devon, the caves are set along the Devonshire coast and are some of the most beautiful lands in the country. The caves have many special events that cater for the children as well as the actual cave itself, which is steeped in history that is certainly worth a look.

Some of the prehistoric remains in the cave are dated back over 450,000 years old, and the caves have some of the most spectacular geological formations in the world. The cave is also home to the oldest human bone found in Britain. The Jawbone is beleived to be around an amazing 40,000 years old and research into whether it belongs to a neanderthal or modern human being!
The caves and neighbouring woodlands are a Site of Special Scientific Interest but more significantly the caves are the nation's oldest portected ancient monument. This is one of the reasons why tours around the caves are guided. A treat for all the family and a great way for the kids to learn about the prehistoric past. Christmas Cavern Magic - Santa returns to the caves with his troop of helpers to offer a magical and memorable Christmas visit around the decorated caves in search of his workshop. Kids at Kents Cavern



As well as the highly entertaining guided tours, there are many other thngs for the kids to do.
The Dig - Find a sand box and carefully excavate the sand. What can you find? a shark's tooth, an ammonite, a Devil's Toe Nail and the coral. If you find small gem stones in the sand, you can keep them.
Tribal Face Painting - Find some chalk and decorate a face on the wall in tribal face markings.
Cave Painting - Try some cave painting by drawing a Woolly Mammoth or a Hyena.
Cavog the Caveman - Cavog the Caveman is around during the summer school holidays. He is always at his cave for Children's Birthday Parties. The caves are an excellent opportunity to have a child's party with excellent facilities and a fun-packed itinerary laid on for you. Chldren must be between 6-10 years of age and all parties are hosted by an enthusiastic party host and an adventurous cave guide. Each child is £12 with the first 2 adults being free, with every adult after costing £4. A great selection of foods is available, both healthy and fresh providing a real treat for all involved.
