As well as innovative displays, informative talks and feeding demonstrations, there's an ever changing programme of events, exhibitions and themed activities to keep the family fully entertained A baby friendly attraction with changing facilities and the café provides high chairs, bottle warmer and a microwave is available for parental use. Discover how they have colonised the world's oceans - from rockpools to deep-sea trenches - and come face to face with some of the strangest species. Special Nursery displays are home to a wide range for newborn aquatic life. Recent breeding successes include both native and tropical sharks and rays, seahorses, bangaii cardinal fish, cichlids, cuttlefish and many more. |

The centrepiece of the aquarium is the spectacular coral reef housed within a giant ocean display. The reef is home to exotic species like angelfish, puffer fish, wrasse and hundreds of other brightly coloured species that populate this bustling undersea city. You can enjoy really close encounters from inside the amazing underwater walkthrough tunnel running through the centre of the reef. Tropical waters are also home to a variety of sharks, including the graceful black tip reef shark, as well as rays, moray eels and lionfish. | ![]() |

Getting There - Follow A19 taking the A1058 (Coast Road) signposted to Tynemouth. Tourism signage will then direct you to the aquarium on the seafront. Or take the Metro to Cullercoats
