Inline Skating

Inline Skating - The new Rock and Roll and suitable for children of all ages! Its quicker than running, easier than skiing and looks pretty impressive too, so long as you don't fall flat on your backside that is!! Inline Skating is rthe proper name for Rollerbalding. It is called Rollerblading or Rollerskating beacuse of one maufacturer's glamourisation, was developed by frustrated ice skaters who wanted to skate all year round.
It has become such a popular past-time and is now widely used as a means of transport. You will often see people of all ages practicing in the park, on seaside promenades and in skate parks all throughout the country. Some cities even take it as far as having marshals to keep traffic at bay whilst skaters whizz round in groups.
It is so easy to start in this sport as all you need is a pair of skates and somehere to try it out. Protection pads are also very important as it can be quite painful when you fall off and even seasonal pros have the occasional fall! You wil need knee pads, wrist pads, elbow pads and a helmet. A decent pair of skates can cost in the region of £100. Skates.co.uk have a great range of skates with prices starting at as little as £60 which for a pair of skates is very reasonable and even offer some for up to £200! Click here to view the skates available. Protection is also important so be sure to check that out here.

Of course, getting started isn't the difficult bit. Once you have the poise and balance needed to able to skate, your next challenge will be t learn to stop, which isn't as easy as it sounds. The best way to stop is to cause friction between your brake pad and the floor, or to use the grass as a buffer. The worst way to stop is to collie with someone else, but at the beginning this is likely to happen.
Once you've mastered the basic technique, you will obviously want to enhance your skills even further and this involves going faster. The basic techniques are quite easy to master and come with practice, but gaining momentum is something best learned off of other skaters who are quite experienced. They don't usually touch the gorund with their feet at once, and most of their movement is below their waist down.
The best skaters say that it is a relaxing sport for all to enjoy and is a breath of fresh air, even when going at high speeds. Inline Skating UK have compiled a list for ICP qualified instructors in your area. Click here to find instructors in your local area.
