The Tower of London, located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, is steeped in shoardes of history and tradition. With inmates such as Sir Walter Raleigh who was imprisoned for 13 years in 1603 and Guy fawlkes, famous for the role he played in the gunpowder plot on the Houses of parliament was summoned here for interrogation by a council of the King's ministers. In more recent times, Hitler's aide and right-hand man Rudolf Hess was the last statesman to be imprisoned in the tower in May 1941. The infamous South-London gangsters 'Ronnie' and 'Reggie' Kray were the last prisoners to be held here for missing national service in 1952.

Undoubtedly, one of the more focal points of the tower is the Crown Jewels of the Queen of England. Housed here since 1303, the Jewels on show are some of the most coveted pieces in the world, with the Koh-i-noor and the Cullinan 1 making up a collection of over 23,000 in total. They are seen as priceless emblems of the British monarchy and a look at these is worth the entry fee in itself.
The Prisoner's of the Tower section, enables you to interact with the characters that have graced the cells with an opportunity to explore the prisoners stories, have your say on the issue of imprisonment and take on the role of important figures trying to decide key decisions from the past. This is great fun for the kids and is not only enjoyable but very informative. The price of this is included in your ticket so be sure to take advantage of this unique experience.

The Tower of London is not just made up of 1 Tower, and consists of over 9 different Towers. The Bloody Tower (above, left) was named so because of a legend that the Princes who occupied the Tower at the time were callously murdered and since then, Sir Walter Raleigh was imprisoned here in in 1603. There are many different towers to experinece, each one with their own unique stories. The White Tower (above, right) is the oldest medieval building at the Tower and was constructed in the 12th Century.
Often affectionately known as 'Beefeaters', Yoeman Warders have long been an associated symbol for England and a Yoeman Tour is a popular tour amongst visitors and one that we recommend. Yoeman Warders act as guides, provide security and are an attraction in their own right. In 2007, Moira Cameron became the first female 'Beefeater' in history to go on duty at the Tower.
