Crazy Golf

Crazy Golf is a good old fashioned family game with a competitive edge involved as well! Crazy Golf is the much loved family sea-side game where you try and guide your golf ball through a maze of obstacles as diverse as windmills, castles, dinosaurs and famous monuments. There are courses to be found throughout the country. Many are dubbed as 'adventure golf' with course themes such as pirates or the Jurassic park era, with dinosaurs aplenty.
The much-loved Crazy Golf course in Mablethorpe Lancs, even has a hand-made replica of the Humber Bridge for you to try and cross. There is also a high-quality 18 hole adventure course on the summit of the Lladnundo's Great Orme Country Park, which has some superb views. The Isle of Wight is famed for its Crazy Golf, with 16 courses and themed experiences at the Jungle Amusement Centre and a more serene landscape at the course full of flowers on the Esplanade.
Crazy Golf is an excellent alternative for the whole family to enjoy, if a round of Golf is deemed to much. It is much cheaper, much quicker and is more suitable for younger children, with the obstacles involved, providing a treat for all! As well as being far more compact and manageable, it is also less formal, compared to Golf courses where suitable attire is standard practice.
As well as Crazy Golf, there is another adaptation of Golf, known as mini-golf. Mini-golf is hugley popular around the world, and is a harsher more skilful version of Crazy Golf but incorporates the main concepts. The courses are designed to reward skilful play and as with all forms of Golf, the idea is to pot the ball into the allotted hole, in the fewest strokes.
Tournament approved mini-golf courses feature challenging obstacles to negotiate, a smooth or concrete putting surface and and a raised edge to help you keep some sort of control! The top mini-golfers in the world even elect different balls for different holes, factoring in things like bounce, weight and hardness. Mini-Golf is a great alternative to Golf and once you've mastered Crazy Golf, be sure to give it a go - it's great fun for all the family to enjoy!!
There are a number of local mini-golf clubs throughout the UK and players aged 14 and over can join the British Mini-Golf Association for discounts when playing at BMGA affiliated courses. The BMGA website is available here. To find Mini-Golf courses throughout the Uk, click here.
