There's another world to unearth beneath the surface and with many aficionados recalling their first diving experience as being a life-changing experience, this is something that the whole family will enjoy! If you choose the right setting for your dive, yours too could be a life changing experience as you discover a whole new entity!

Taster lessons are your starting point to help you get a feel of the diving experience and to test whether you are comfortable with the expereince. You'll be taught the basic skills by your diving instructor and then move on to a diving course which gives you the accreditation you need for reputable diving centres to take you on their trips.

Branches of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) offer courses around Britain and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors offer lessons around the world. For more information regarding either of these bodies, please visit their page.

Not everyone takes to diving. But don't let this stop you joining in with the aqua experience. If you are not comfortable with the diving environment, there are other ways to get involved and anyone under the age of 12 is not permitted for safety reasons to join the dive. However, there are alternatives for everyone to enjoy and this even applies to people who aren't strong swimmers. Snorkelling requires just a face mark and a bouyancy aid for people who aren't strong swimmers.

Once qualified, there are lots of wrecks for the divers to then explore including the Sound of Mull and the Morven Peninsula where you cn find the wreck of Hispania; and off the waters of Sussex you can find the Alaunia,a streamship sunk by a German mine in 1916 during the 1st World War, and is now surrounded by shoals of bib, spider crabs and huge lobsters!!
