Parascending

Parascending incorporates all the fun of Parachuting without actually going through the pain-staking jump out of the plane. Parascending lets you soar in the sky, strapped to a harness which is attached to a parachute and being towed by a vehicle or boat below. Many parasending providers have double or triple harnesses so that two or three people can glide at the same time. It is popular with tourists in countries like Spain, but in fact Parascending is an activity widely available in the UK.
If you choose to parascend from a speedboat, you start by being taken out on the boat to a suitable stretch of open water. There, you are strapped into a strong harness that is attached to a parachute which in turn is attached to the wincj. The winch rope is slowly let out and you are lifted up. Though the boat can reach terryfying speeds, the flight in the air is smooth and relaxing. When the flight is finished, you are slowly winched into the boat, and not simply dunked into the water!
With parascending on the gorund, you are towed by vehicle, using on the gorunds of an unused air field. You can even try parascending competitively which involves trying to land as near to a given target as possible.

The British Hang Gliding Association has a welath of information regarding any Parascending experience. A full list of recreational clubs can be found by clicking here.
