Tubing

Tubing as an adventure can take many forms. It can either be jumping into the sea with a ring as a bouyancy aid. It can be one or more people in an inflatable ring towed behind a speedboat, or it can take the most popular form, river tubing. River tubing involves climbing in an enormous inflated inner tube and then jumping into a river. It's very popular in the far east, especially south-east Asia, but you can try it almost anywhere as all you really need is the ability to swim!
Depending on the ferocity of the river you decide to jump into, it can be a relaxing look at the scenic surroundings, or it can be a challenging adventure through the rapids and the fast-moving water. Tubing is available in the UK in some theme parks, leisure parks and water parks especially.
You can also go 'tubing' on ice or snow with some Ski Slopes offering the tubbing opportunity. Check out the Dry Ski Slopes section for more details. It is similar to tobogganing but because of the low friction and the shape of the tube, it can be hard to control the direction and speed - but this is half the fun!
You can go very fast so it's not really advised to try this out on any old hill, whether it has snowed or not! As well as parks and skiing centres, a popular place to try 'tubing' is Nae Limits, in Scotland. It has many other activities as well as tubing but for around £50, anyone over the age of 15 yrs is welcome to come and try. However, anyone younger who wants to experience this unique and adventurous challenge, check out the dry ski slopes section here. To visit the Nae Limits website for more information, click here.
